Emilia-Romagna Surgical Colorectal Cancer Audit

The Emilia-Romagna Surgical Colorectal Audit (ESCA) started in April 2019, following the experience of the Dutch ColoRectal Aduit. ESCA currently involves 7 hospitals of the Northern Italy Emilia-Romagna region and it is coordinated by the Cancer Center Istiuto Romagnolo per lo studio dei Tumori “Dino Amadori” in Meldola. It collects all data for colorectal patients who undergo surgery with the aim to evaluate postoperative complications and mortality through systematic measurement, and monitoring. ESCA provides annual feedback on Key Performance Indicators to all participating surgeons with the specific goal of improving outcomes.
